President Trump Cuts Off Funding for the National Endowment for Democracy
The National Endowment for Democracy is a CIA front group engaged in regime change operations abroad.
President Donald Trump has cut off funding for the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), a CIA front group that destabilizes regimes across the world.
The Free Press reported that NED's funding has been suspended per an order sent from Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to the US Treasury, which will cripple the organization’s budget to conduct subversive activities.
The report indicates that NED received an astonishing $315 million from the U.S. government during the most recent fiscal year. The NED’s dole has now dried up, and the bureaucrats are freaking out as a result.
“It’s been a bloodbath,” an NED staffer said to the FP. “We have not been able to meet payroll and pay basic overhead expenses.”
The Center for Renewing America, a thinktank helmed by Trump’s Office of Management and Budget Director Russell Vought, connected NED’s actions to the genesis of the Russia/Ukraine war in an analysis.
“A steady stream of NED grants to myriad Ukrainian political entities and movements advanced both the ‘Orange Revolution’ and ‘Maidan Revolution’ that paved the way for the current Ukraine-Russia war,” the analysis stated.
Jim Bovard wrote an article with the Libertarian Institute chronicling the misdeeds of the NED throughout their sordid history.
Bovard noted that the NED attempted to orchestrate a coup against socialist dictator Hugo Chavez in Venezuela in the early 2000s. The attempted coup failed and only strengthened Chavez’s grip on power as he used the failed coup to convince his people he was standing against foreigners attempting to destroy the sovereignty of the nation.
Bovard stated in a 2009 article for the Future of Freedom Foundation that NED is “based on the notion that its meddling in foreign elections is automatically pro-democracy because the US government is the incarnation of democracy. NED has always operated on the principle that ‘what’s good for the US government is good for democracy.'”
In recent years, NED has become "a top funder of the worldwide Censorship Industrial Complex," according to Bovard with NED arguing that worldwide Big Brother censorship is necessary to protect democracy. The Trump administration has correctly identified NED as one of the most insidious and destructive government-funded programs on the books.
