Unhinged April Delaney Loses Composure at Maryland Congressional Debate, Accosts Neil Parrott in Fit of Rage
April Delaney's child-like tantrum is disqualifying behavior.
Maryland Democrat Congressional Hopeful April Delaney lost her composure and accosted her Republican opponent Neil Parrott in a rage-filled tantrum during a League of Women Voters debate on Sunday.
Delaney became unhinged after Parrott pointed out her hypocrisy to debate attendees as she calls for civility while simultaneously launching disingenuous cheap shots against Parrott in campaign ads.
"It's interesting to hear my opponent sit here and say 'I don't want to villainize people.' What about the lies that you put on your mailers? It's disgusting," Parrott said as he was rudely interrupted by a flustered Delaney.
"The lies that my opponent, shame on her, villainizing, inflammatory. That's what this is. If you look at her ads, that's what you get. Look at my ads. You get practical common-sense solutions, how we can work together,” he continued.
"I think it's because you have no record, you have nothing to brag about, nothing to move forward with because all you do is attack me instead of promoting your own record because you don't have one. I think it's time that we bring practical solutions to D.C. I think hypocrisy needs to go," Parrott added.
Parrott described his popular legislative agenda of bringing back manufacturing jobs, supporting the police, securing the border, and protecting the middle class.
“Look, this is a very important election, and here [in me] you have someone who lives in the district, cares about the district, and someone [in Delaney] who has not been invested in the district,” Parrott said, referring to Delaney’s alleged record as a carpetbagger.
“I care about every single person in this district. If you vote for me, I will work for every single one of you in this room, every single one of you in this district… God bless you, and God bless the United States of America,” Parrott said in his concluding remarks to an overwhelming response of cheers.
This is when Delaney became surly and aggressive, laying hands on Parrott and attempting out of desperation to provoke a confrontation. Parrott was the better man, refusing to stoop to Delaney’s shameful and childish level, and simply walked away.
Parrott eventually returned for the conclusion of the debate, but it was not long before Delaney returned to her immature tactics and was seen yelling rudely at Parrott as debate attendees departed and the video feed was cut. Delaney and Parrott are battling for the open Congressional seat in Maryland’s 6th U.S. House District. This is considered by election analysts to be the most hotly contested Congressional seat in Maryland, and based on Delaney’s actions, she is crumbling under the pressure. More voters are seeing through Delaney’s façade, and she only has herself to blame for her shameful and disqualifying display at the public debate.
