Trump Declassifies Bombshell Intelligence on Election Security, Says China Obtained 220 Million U.S. Voter Files
President Donald Trump says the intelligence community concealed critical election security threats while China gained access to hundreds of millions of American voter records.
President Donald Trump delivered a primetime Oval Office address Thursday night announcing the immediate declassification of intelligence that he says exposes major vulnerabilities in America’s election system and raises serious questions about how federal agencies handled foreign threats.
Speaking directly to the nation, Trump said Americans deserve complete confidence that every legal vote is counted accurately and that elections are protected from fraud and foreign interference.
“For many years, I’ve called for bold, swift, and decisive action to protect the integrity of America’s elections,” Trump said. “Every American deserves to know that when they cast their vote, that vote will be counted accurately in a system... where cheating and interference are not just difficult, but virtually impossible.”
Trump argued that the current election system “falls catastrophically short” of that standard before announcing the release of what he described as previously classified intelligence.
“Tonight, I’m announcing the immediate declassification and release of critical intelligence revealing shocking vulnerabilities in our election infrastructure,” Trump declared.
According to the president, a White House task force spent months reviewing and verifying classified intelligence and government records before recommending their release to the American public.
Trump said the documents reveal five major findings about weaknesses in the nation’s election infrastructure.
The first finding, he said, is that the Chinese Communist Party obtained approximately 220 million U.S. voter files, while key members of the U.S. intelligence community allegedly failed to fully inform him about the scope of the breach.
Trump argued that Americans have a right to know the extent of foreign access to U.S. election-related data and why such intelligence was not fully disclosed to the commander in chief at the time.
The president indicated that additional declassified materials detail other vulnerabilities involving election security, foreign interference, and failures within the federal bureaucracy.
The intelligence release comes as the Trump administration continues making election integrity a central priority during the president’s second term, with the White House promising greater transparency surrounding classified information tied to election security and foreign influence operations.
More details on the remaining declassified findings are expected as the documents are released.
