On October 22, 2024, NBCUniversal Local’s Telemundo Station Group published a poll showing Democrats ahead of Republicans among Hispanic voters 50% to 40%. 9% of these voters are undecided. Harris holds a 56% to 33% advantage among female voters. By contrast, Trump has a surprising 48% to 44% lead among Hispanic male voters.
As for Texas’ United States Senate race, Democrat Congressman Colin Allred is ahead of Texas Senator Ted Cruz among Hispanic voters 51% to 37%, while 11% are unsure.
The poll also asked questions about immigration. One question showed that Hispanic voters back the use of the Texas National Guard to police the state’s border with Mexico by a margin of 59% to 30%.
The full results of the poll can be read here.
The poll was commissioned by Telemundo Station Group and carried out by Mason-Dixon Polling & Strategy. Hispanic male drift towards Trump is likely the product of minority outreach strategies used by Republicans in response to Democrats’ gender pandering. Republicans should do everything possible to avoid cringey ethnic pandering tactics that have been used in the past and instead rely on populist strategies of appealing to immigration restriction and law & order to pick up votes. That’s the key to victory in Texas and other states.
