New Poll Shows Donald Trump Picking Up Record Support Among Hispanic Voters in 2024
Trump-style populism, not Bushism or Reaganism, is the key to activating the working class.
According to a poll by Edson Research, former President Donald Trump picked up the support of 46% of Hispanic voters in his successful campaign for the presidency in 2024.
Trump’s Hispanic support is historic as it topped the figures of Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush, giving him the highest share of the national Hispanic vote for a Republican in modern history.
This shift in the Hispanic vote was largely brought about by Hispanic men drastically moving towards Trump. Per the Edson Research poll, 55% of Hispanic men voted for Trump. By contrast, only 38% of Hispanic women supported Trump.
For perspective, then-President George W. Bush picked up 44% of Hispanic support in his re-election bid in 2004. Reagan won 37% of the Hispanic vote in 1980 and 34% of the Hispanic vote in 1984.
Harris obtained 52% of the Hispanic vote, which is significantly below the 64% share that Democratic presidential candidates have usually picked up in the past 50 years
In Michigan, Trump allegedly won a resounding 58% of Hispanic voters. By contrast, Harris won only 39% of the Hispanic vote, according to the Edison poll.
Trump made major inroads in areas such as Hidalgo County (92% Hispanic) and Cameron County (89.2% Hispanic), areas of South Hispanic with large Hispanic populations that have traditionally voted Democratic. For reference, Trump defeated Harris 51% to 49% in Hidalgo County, whereas former President Joe Biden won the county with 58% of the vote in 2020. In Cameron County, Trump defeated Harris 53% to 47%. By contrast, Biden won Cameron County with 56% of the vote in 2020.
Despite what the pundits say, Hispanics are not only obsessed with immigration and in fact may be receptive to Trump’s immigration restriction measures. On top of that, over 20% of the US’s working class is Hispanic, so they’ve disproportionately felt the brunt of Wuhan virus restrictions and the inflation unleashed by the Biden regime.
Trump’s pro-working class platform of immigration restriction and economic nationalism is a clean break from the milquetoast, pro-Chamber of Commerce conservatism embodied by Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush. This has unique appeal among working class groups of all races. We may be entering a new era of politics that is no longer encumbered by the stale politics of the 20th century.
