Neocon Washington Post Editor Robert Kagan Resigns After Newspaper Refuses to Endorse Kamala Harris
Harris is a uniquely repulsive candidate
On October 25, 2024, Washington Post editor at large Robert Kagan resigned after the paper’s decision to not endorse a candidate in the 2024 presidential election.
Kagan, who authored "Rebellion: How Antiliberalism is Tearing America Apart — Again," has been a vocal critic of former President Donald Trump over the last decade. In 2023, he wrote a column, "The Trump dictatorship: How to stop it." He has criticized Trump for allegedly being "anti-Ukraine," and is of the view that Trump will destroy democracy if he is re-elected.
Kagan’s came following Post publisher and chief executive officer William Lewis’ announcement that the paper would not be endorsing any of the presidential candidates in 2024, nor any candidates in future presidential races.
"The Washington Post will not be making an endorsement of a presidential candidate in this election. Nor in any future presidential election. We are returning to our roots of not endorsing presidential candidates," Lewis declared in a post on WAPO’s website.
Lewis alluded to the paper’s editorial board proclaiming back in 1960, "The Washington Post has not ‘endorsed’ either candidate in the presidential campaign. That is in our tradition and accords with our action in five of the last six elections."
Kagan revealed that he resigned due to the WAPO’s decision not to endorse a candidate but did not provide any further commentary on the matter.
"This just happened," he stated.
Kagan is a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, a think tank that’s notorious for promoting globalist, neoliberal policies. He used to be a member of the Republican Party but left the party due to the rise of Donald Trump.
Kagan, of Lithuanian Jewish extraction, has been a consummate advocate for perpetual wars abroad for decades on end. People like him are clearly afraid of the rise of right-wing populism.
In a rational society, the likes of Kagan would be reduced to pauper status and not allowed to exercise influence in the political process.
Another one bites the dust…
