Shortly after the Muslim Mayor of Hamtramck, MI endorsed Donald Trump for President, the Muslim Mayor of Dearborn Heights, MI has followed suit and has also endorsed Trump for President.
Dearborn Heights Mayor Bill Bazzi, a retired Marine veteran and Muslim immigrant, stated that he is supporting Trump for President during a press call on Monday. Dearborn Heights is in a region that has the highest concentration of Arabs anywhere in the country.
"We need a commander in chief to come in and stop the wars," said Bazzi, whose family has been devastated during the heightened conflict in the Middle East. Bazzi said “the home my grandparents built was just destroyed a few days ago.”
Vice President Kamala Harris’ recent campaigning with neocon ex-Republican Liz Cheney, whose father was the architect of the disastrous War in Iraq, was apparently instrumental in Bazzi announcing his public support for Trump.
“I’m very disgusted. They started the war with Iraq, and their company benefited,” Bazzi said, referring to Dick Cheney’s Haliburton ties and alleged war profiteering with that defense contractor.
Big League Politics has reported on Trump’s stunning inroads into Muslim communities throughout Michigan in recent weeks as Muslim voters flock away from Harris.
A report from the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) released last month shows that Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein has amassed 40 percent support from Muslims in Michigan.
“These new survey findings make it clear that American Muslim voters have the potential to determine the outcomes in several key battleground states and that they are still up for grabs in the 2024 election,” said CAIR Government Affairs Director Robert S. McCaw in a statement.
The endorsement of Trump by Hamtramck Mayor Amer Ghalib has opened the door for more broad Muslim support of Trump in recent weeks.
"Though it’s looking good, he may or may not win the election and be the 47th president of the United States, but I believe he is the right choice for this critical time," Ghalib wrote in Arabic of his decision to endorse Trump on his Facebook account.
"I’ll not regret my decision no matter what the outcome would be, and I’m ready to face the consequences. For this, and for many other reasons, I announce my support and endorsement for the former, and hopefully, the next president of the United States, Donald Trump," he added.
The Muslim exodus from the Democrats to Trump has to have the Harris campaign in panic. Expect more desperate moves from Harris from now until election day as her possibilities to win the presidency slip away.
