Gavin Newsom Targets JD Vance as 2028 Panic Sets In
The California governor says Vance is “more dangerous” than Trump as Democrats scramble for their next attack line.
California Governor Gavin Newsom is already laying the groundwork for 2028 — and in the process, revealing exactly how Democrats plan to frame the next Republican nominee.
During a recent interview with former Biden press secretary Jen Psaki on MSNBC, Newsom was asked about the future of the Republican Party and the 2028 presidential election. His answer? Vice President JD Vance “scares” him — “almost more than Trump.”
Predictable doesn’t even begin to cover it.
For Democrats, the current Republican is always the most dangerous figure in American history. The previous Republican? Suddenly “reasonable.” It’s a pattern that repeats every election cycle.
Remember when George W. Bush and Mitt Romney were treated as existential threats to democracy? Now many on the left speak of them with a kind of nostalgic respect — because they no longer pose an immediate political threat.
This time, it’s JD Vance.
According to reporting from The Hill, Newsom said:
“Vance, for whatever reason, scares me, almost more than Trump. I mean, talk about a guy who put a mask on and his face grew into it.”
Newsom went on to call Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio “frauds” and “phonies” for aligning themselves with President Trump after previously criticizing him.
“But JD is a unique fraud and phony, and he’s a little more dangerous,” Newsom added.
Translation: Vance is effective.
Newsom understands that JD Vance represents the next generation of America First leadership — someone younger, articulate, and capable of carrying the movement forward beyond Trump’s presidency. That prospect clearly rattles California’s governor.
The interview, recorded just one day after President Trump’s State of the Union address, also featured Newsom sounding alarms about election security and even floating concerns about Trump seeking a third term — rhetoric clearly designed to energize the Democratic base ahead of 2028.
Let’s be honest about what’s happening here.
Newsom is in full presidential audition mode. He’s saturating the media with interviews, public appearances, and carefully crafted soundbites. He wants Democrat voters to view him as inevitable — the heir apparent.
But before he lectures the country about “danger,” Americans might want to look at the condition of California under his leadership: soaring cost of living, rampant crime in major cities, an exodus of residents, and ongoing struggles with wildfire recovery.
If JD Vance “scares” Gavin Newsom, that may tell you more about Newsom’s political ambitions than it does about Vance.
Here’s the video of Newsom’s remarks:

Newsom is one of the most vile “human beings” to have ever walked the planet. A slick shell without soul. He proves that assessment each and every day without apology.
Newsome is a pathological liar. But as Rush used to say, the democrats will always tell you who the best Republicans candidate is. Vance is a normal, down to earth person. Newsome is the exact opposite.
