Donald Trump Hires Ukraine War Supporter, Former Dick Cheney Underling as National Security Advisor

This is bad.

Donald Trump has appointed Rep. Mike Waltz (R-FL) as National Security Advisor, promoting a neoconservative war hawk into a position overseeing foreign policy in the second Trump administration.

As a Congressman, Waltz has a long history of opposing an America First foreign policy. He has been a mouthpiece for militarism, giving full-throated support of endless war.

Independent journalist Michael Tracey has exposed the long history of Waltz supporting interventionist foreign policy, commonly agreeing with the likes of Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC).

Waltz also called for President Joe Biden to be more hawkish and get America involved in more wars. He went on Fox News to call upon Biden to bomb Iran last year.

Waltz has stated that the U.S. should be more belligerent and aggressive toward Ukraine. He made a statement calling for stronger economic sanctions against Russia, adding that "taking the handcuffs off of the long-range weapons we provided to Ukraine" would force Russian President Vladimir Putin’s hand.

Waltz got his start in politics working for Vice President Dick Cheney and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld at the height of the George W. Bush administration.

"Congressman Waltz's leadership continued in the Pentagon as a defense policy director for Secretaries of Defense Donald Rumsfeld and Robert Gates. Waltz then went on to serve in the White House as Vice President Dick Cheney's counterterrorism advisor, where he saw firsthand the difficult decisions the President and his Cabinet must make to protect our national security. Waltz's position in the White House was unique, as he advised the Bush administration on policy he actually carried out in the military," Waltz said.

Similar to the first Trump administration, the neocons are swarming and getting into positions of major authority. This is a bad sign that nothing will change for the better in Trump’s second administration, and the MAGA agenda will be undermined by the enemy within.
