POLL: Young Voters Support Arms Embargo On Israel
More and more Americans are turning against Israel
According to a poll carried out by Data for Progress, young voters are strongly in favor of the United States government imposing an arms embargo on Israel in light of its brutal, punitive campaign in Gaza. In other words, these voters want the US government to stop transferring American-manufactured armaments to Israel.
55% of young voters, which includes 62% of Democrats, 52% of Republicans, and 47% of independent voters, are in favor of the US imposing an arms embargo on Israel.
Since October 7, 2023, the Israel Defense Forces responded to Palestinian resistance organization Hamas by committing an ethnic cleansing campaign against Gaza. The Israelis have expanded this conflict to Lebanon, through a series of aerial strikes and limited ground operations. These campaigns have produced notable decapitation strikes against Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar and Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.
Since October 7, the US has sent close to $20 billion of military aid to Israel.
Alarmingly, this conflict has expanded to the Red Sea, with the Yemeni Houthi forces disrupting shipping lanes and launching strikes against Israel. Iran jumped into the mix with missile attacks against Israel in April and October.
To say tensions are boiling in the Middle East, would be an understatement. The US simply must stay out of this conflict zone altogether. There are so many problems at home — mass inflation, rising crime, and a porous border — that getting into another regional war which has global implications could accelerate the decline of the US as a major power.
An America First foreign policy of realism and restraint must be pursued for maintaining any semblance of stability both at home and abroad. Imperial overstretch has killed many an empire and the US will be no exception to this trend if it’s political class doesn’t get its act together.
